The museum

The Etching to Digital Prints Museum is located in Artes, in the town of Ribeira (A Coruña). Artes is part of the dune area of Corrubedo and Carregal and Vixán lakes. The site is a unique wetland in Spain.

The collection mainly comprises an important representation of graphic arts: original etchings, etchings engraved later on original plants and facsimile recreations. The exhibited works cover from 15th century to present. The most brilliant printmakers are shown: Goya, Rubens, Van Dyck, Toulouse-Lautrec, Saura, Ricardo Baroja, Eberhard Schlotter, Dalí, Alberti, Picasso... Galician printmakers are also present: Alfonso Costa, Manuel Ayaso, Novoa,…

The main objectives of the museum are the collection, the cataloguing (29,000 engravings catalogued), the study and promotion of graphic arts from its origins to present. In order to fulfil these aims the museum covers all the artistic techniques from the 15th century to nowadays, hence the name: Etching to Digital Prints.

In 2009 took place the first edition of the Atlante Prize, applying over 300 works from 18 different countries. After this successful first edition, the museum will run the contest annually, with substantial prizes.
